What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?

Empowerment in the printing industry means having the confidence to assert myself, take on leadership roles, and advance my career despite systemic challenges. It’s about self-advocacy, breaking barriers, and creating a more inclusive environment where women can thrive and support one another.

Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?

I have two memorable moments when I felt empowered.

Before my furlough in 2020 (you can guess why), my boss at Frankenstitch Promotions LLC pulled me aside after a major job and said, “Kid, you’re the only girl I know who knows what you do in the printing industry.”

The second was when I got hired at TEAM Concept. My supervisor, Pat, told me, “You’re the only applicant whose resume checked all our boxes.”

Both moments made me feel empowered, proud and validated in my hard work and dedication.

What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?

Networking has been key to my growth. I stay connected with my college peers for advice, support, and recommendations.

My former college roommate and fellow graphic designer, Adrianna Grace, has been especially supportive of my design journey, she’s legally blind yet an incredibly strong artistic force.

I also recommend Adobe programs, which offer certification tests to enhance skills, as well as LinkedIn for networking (where I connected with Girls Who Print).
Additionally, I use sites like Indeed to keep my resume updated and organized.

In synopsis, keeping a strong network of colleagues for support, leveraging networking opportunities,
and maintaining an organized record of my career growth have been essential resources in my development.
