Please share advice for young women considering or starting a career in print… Which includes design, sales, marketing, and all jobs within.

Don’t be afraid to ask “why?”.  I was always afraid to ask questions when I was younger for fear of not being taken seriously. Since then, I have been very fortunate to have really great (female) bosses and every single one of them encouraged me to ask questions. Adopting this practice has given me a broader perspective on things (in all parts of life) and gives me the power to make better, more informed decisions. Remember, ASKING IS FREE.

How have mentors helped your personal and career development?

I have had many strong female influences in my life – and each of them taught me something different. From my mom (an emergency room nurse for 40+ years), I learned to give people grace (as we are all going through things that may not be public knowledge). My first boss (who employed me right after 9/11) taught me to keep going (even when the chips may be stacked against you). My current boss is helping me discover how I can “step into the light” and become a leader (rather than a supportive player).
