Please share advice for young women considering or starting a career in print… Which includes design, sales, marketing, and all jobs within.

My best advice is to stay true to yourself, your values, and your beliefs. Always be as honest as you can and you will earn the trust, confidence, and loyalty of your co-workers, management, and clients.

We all understand that the client doesn’t need to know all the little things in the background that might not have gone as smoothly as planned, but keep them informed if there are bumps in the road. They are usually understanding, and they will remember and appreciate your honesty.

How have mentors helped your personal and career development?

I will never forget a Salesperson at the first sheetfed printing plant that I worked at. He always said hi and genuinely cared about the people in the shop. He would occasionally bring in donuts or bagels, and hang out for the Friday evening beer (back when that was a thing).

If we had a project in-house that required extra hands to make a due date, and he was in the office, he rolled up his sleeves to help out. He knew that if he took care of the people in the shop they would take care of his projects/clients, it was a win-win for everyone.
