Did you choose print or did print choose you?
I chose print based on my love of being creative. I loved design and photography while in high school and loved being able to explore my creative side while getting my education. I decided to pursue an associate’s degree in Commercial and Advertising Art at a local college and never looked back!
Up until 2008, I had always worked on the other side of print – via publishing companies and ad agencies. Then I was offered the opportunity to move south and work for a printer in Eastern North Carolina, helping set up their E-Commerce department and expand their client base. I now work for a really cool printing company in Charlotte as Director of E-Commerce, applying everything I have learned during my career to help grow the company.
How do you establish credibility with colleagues, clients and bosses?
By working smarter, not harder. Using my skill set to do the tasks I am given in the most efficient way while being more cost-effective and getting things done quickly in the process. I look for teachable moments to help my colleagues understand what I do and how it can benefit their clients. While working in publishing I lived by the motto that the client is always right, so I take that approach in everything I do. It helps build a good rapport with not only clients but my teammates as well.
In 50 words or less tell us your mission for elevating Print this year.
By expanding our client offerings in the E-Commerce market. I am working with our account management team to show our clients the potential for growth in that arena. Online portals have many opportunities to engage customers with print on demand, DAM, and more.
