What does empowerment mean to you?

Empowerment is knowing who you are and what you stand for, and not compromising your values. Empowerment is voicing your position, being clear on your needs, and learning to be heard. Empowerment is a personal journey that starts by believing you are worthy, capable, and confident in your knowledge and skills and what you bring to the table.

Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?

Girls Who Print is a movement centered on supporting women across their careers by providing the education, skill-building, tools, and resources required to step into leadership, confidentially ask for what they deserve, and embrace their expertise.

I feel empowered every day through my work at Girls Who Print.

Seeing women from all over the world come together to share their stories, mentor others, and advocate for change, reinforces how much impact we can have when we unite. Together we can change the industry, together we can change the world.

What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?

I am a student of life. The best resources I’ve had are the women that came before me. Some have helped open doors; others have slammed them shut. Some have mentored me to promotions, others have been obstacles in my journey. I have learned not to judge either as good or bad, to embrace each situation as an experience to grow, and that growth is always my responsibility – it is not given, it is earned.

Here is my best career growth advice: Be a recognized and respected team player through your actions, serve the mission at hand to the best of your ability, strive to improve, help others without judgment, be kind, understanding and focused on positive outcomes during tough times, be proud of your accomplishments, never diminish your value, and stay true to who you are.
