Erica Matthews: Accounts Supervisor, Kenway Printers & Stationers LTD | Woodhill Graphics
What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?
Empowerment means being trained and equipped with knowledge and skills to perform your job effectively and efficiently whilst also being free to make mistakes and to learn from them.
Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?
As someone new to the print industry, I do not have a lot of experience to draw from. However, upon reflection, being supported by directors to solve issues with clients by being included in the solution rather than kept out of the loop ensures I can learn through involvement. There is a sense of inclusion in the outcome. There’s a sense of accomplishment in being able to provide value and assist in real-time.
What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?
I have been a stay-at-home mum for nearly 10 years now, and like others, I’m not sure what resources and programmes are out there to help me succeed. I know supportive management is essential, and I will be heavily relying on organisations like Girls Who Print to steer me in the right direction!
