What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?
To me, printing is intrinsically tied to a quest for knowledge, a human desire to learn, and outlet for culture and expression. I find empowerment in carrying on that tradition while using my voice to uplift others who may not have the chance to speak as loudly. Stories always have, and will continue to bring us together!
Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?
As someone who was a print novice a mere six months ago…I felt empowered when I made the experienced workers on the cold-set web press laugh at my silly print joke. It meant that my months of training on and off-site at our printing facilities, had provided me with the confidence (and knowledge) to engage with seasoned print professionals. Being able to learn from experts in their field, from prepress to shipping and everything in-between, has given me so much confidence that I belong in this industry and can succeed.
What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?
If you ever find yourself living outside of your home country, I can’t recommend Internations enough. It’s a wonderful way to network, make friends, and learn!
