What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?
Empowerment in the printing industry means having the confidence, knowledge and opportunities to succeed in a traditionally male-dominated field. It’s about breaking barriers, leading with innovation and advocating for inclusivity, with honing technical expertise. It also means having a voice – whether in decision-making, mentorship or pushing the industry forward with fresh ideas. It’s about creating a space where women can thrive, from press operators to designers to executives. For me, it’s about resilience, continuous learning and proving that skill and leadership have no gender.
Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?
A moment I felt truly empowered as an estimator was when I helped a client optimize their design for better efficiency, saving them thousands while maintaining their vision. It reinforced that estimating isn’t just about numbers; it’s about problem-solving and adding value to every project.
What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?
I encourage young women entering the industry to actively seek mentorship whenever they can. I didn’t have the benefit of a dedicated mentor, so I had to navigate many challenges through trial, error, and perseverance. Although the journey was tough, it taught me the importance of problem-solving and continuous growth. Through Girls Who Print, I hope to be the mentor I once needed and help pave a smoother path for the next generation of print professionals.
