What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?
Printing and publishing is a male-dominated industry, and empowerment to me means creating opportunity for women to be heard. Making an impact and driving change to ensure women have the ability to be heard for years to come.
Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?
One aspect of the industry I am passionate about is education. Educating writers/authors on their options, and continually educating ourselves to know more and simply to be better. Two years ago I took a speaking initiative with my company and ran with it, to get in front of organizations across North America. I felt truly empowered the first time we heard how impactful that program was to a local writing community, and encouraged me to keep it moving!
What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?
When I began in the publishing and print industry, I had low goals in terms of leadership and felt I would be happy to just show up and do my job every day. The more I learned about the industry, the more I wanted to do! Leaning into my company’s resources and taking leadership programs were instrumental in my current success, and while I may not have a specific program, I would encourage anyone to lean into their company and see what they can offer to support in their moving forward.
