What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?

Printing is historically a male-dominated field, but fortunately, I have the privilege of working alongside some of the most knowledgeable and talented women in the industry. Empowerment, to me, means having the confidence to share ideas, opportunities to take on projects, and the support to thrive in a space that maybe hasn’t always been inclusive. I’m inspired every day by the women I work with, their expertise, dedication, and ability to drive innovation. Together we can challenge old perceptions and pave the way for the next generation of women to feel confident stepping into this industry.

Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?

One moment that stands out in my career was when I was an intern at a large printing corporation and was allowed to “sit at the table” with Fortune 500 executives. As someone who just started in the industry, it was incredibly empowering to be trusted in that space. To listen, contribute, and gain insight from some of the most influential leaders in the business. That experience helped me gain confidence early on, showing me that my ideas and perspective had value, even as a newcomer. It reinforced my belief that if you’re willing to work hard, learn, and speak up, you can earn a place at the table, no matter your title or experience level.

What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?

Finding a mentor in the industry is a great way to start. Don’t be afraid to ask leaders for a meeting, they’re often incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share their insights, especially with young people who are eager to learn. Most leaders want to teach others and help guide the next generation of print leaders. On-the-job learning is equally important. Seek out internships, volunteer for projects, and take every opportunity to expand your skills. Your network can be a powerful tool, use it to connect with people in the industry, ask questions, and find opportunities to gain real-world experience. The combination of mentorship, networking, and hands-on learning made a huge difference in building confidence and shaping my career.
