What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?
Being in the printing industry for over 30 years means that I feel I have the skills and confidence to work with printers. For years, print has been mostly male-dominated, being a woman in this field is empowering in itself.
Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?
I think the moment I felt empowered was when someone turned to me to ask how a job could go through our production facility with the least amount of pain points. I try to talk to as many people as possible to make sure the job goes through our plant as smoothly as possible.
What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?
Learn as much as you can about print! Talk to printers, die-cutters, finishing, and bindery experts. I am lucky enough to work at a place that has most of the people I need to talk to onsite, and they are a wealth of knowledge. Explore LinkedIn and find people who are in the industry who can help you understand the processes of print. Check out your local colleges to see what they offer in pre-press and learn as much as you can.
