What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?

As a woman in print, empowerment for me is to know your worth. What tools do you have in your toolbox that set you apart from others? For me, being a female is just one of them. It is powerful to be a successful female in a male-dominated industry trade like printing.

Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?

A moment during my career when I felt truly empowered is anytime I can captivate an audience with my story. Printing has been my life, sharing my story about how I got here is just the tip of the iceberg. In an industry where it is mostly reactionary, it is the one industry that will tell the story of all of us. The power of print is underestimated, there is more to print than ink on paper – it is the lives it touches and brings together.

What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?

Keeping connected with like-minded individuals, participating in events specifically for women, and any print/packaging/marketing/sales events. Being in front of people and networking is the biggest asset you can give to yourself in this industry. Take the time to make meaningful connections. Technology changes, however, the power of humanity still exists. Invest in humans through conversations, outings, coffee, networking opportunities at an event, and through common connections.
