What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?
True empowerment means never having to prove your worth by accepting less or feeling as though you have to “compensate” for being who you are.
Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?
I felt empowered at many stages in my career when I was second-in-command to powerful and influential women. I learned how to command respect without being a jerk. I appreciate how many doors they opened and how they helped me blaze my path. Having mentors and enlightened bosses does make a difference, so seek them out. Work for/with the best so you can learn from the best.
What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?
Here are ideas for young women who want to grow in their careers:
Use AI to get feedback and drill deeper in the areas where you want to grow. Read about how to be a good mentor or mentee so you can make the most of the experience. Go to the library and browse for business books from respected authors who lay things out in a way that makes sense for you. Keep a journal of what works and what doesn’t. Get certified in something that gives you third-party credibility. Build high quality connections, and stay in touch with them. Keep your promises. Connect with me on LinkedIn!
