What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?
When I first stepped into the world of printing, a traditionally male-dominated industry, I was met with the usual assumptions. But I never saw that as a barrier – only as an opportunity to redefine the narrative. To me, empowerment isn’t about waiting for a seat at the table – it’s about stepping up, claiming your space with confidence, expertise, and determination. As a Purchasing Manager for Spanish-speaking markets at Roberts Graphics, I negotiate, strategize, and make key decisions daily. Success in this role has never been about gender – it’s about expertise, resilience, and a relentless drive to grow. But I also recognize that for many women, the road to recognition in industries like ours can be steeper. That’s why I believe in leading by example – showing that a woman in printing can not only belong but thrive.
To the women already making their mark in male-dominated fields: keep pushing, keep proving that skill has no gender. To the young girls choosing their paths: the world is not divided into ‘jobs for men’ and ‘jobs for women’ – there are only jobs for those willing to chase their ambitions. If you dream of working in printing, engineering, or any industry that some might not expect you to enter, go for it.
Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?
One of the most empowering moments in my career was when I realised the impact of my work – seeing so many machines successfully installed in businesses across the whole globe and knowing that I played a key role in making it happen. Seeing customers’ satisfaction and knowing that my expertise helped their business grow, that’s true empowerment in my eyes. For me, success isn’t just about closing deals. It is also creating lasting relationships, solving challenges, and knowing that the work I do directly impacts businesses worldwide. It’s proof that women belong in this industry not just as participants, but as leaders.
What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?
One of the biggest game-changers in my career has been networking at industry exhibitions. Events like Drupa or Expografica are not just about showing machinery – they’re opportunities to meet industry leaders, learn about market trends, and build relationships that open doors. When you’re new to the field, these events can feel overwhelming, but I’ve learned that confidence grows with experience. My advice? Don’t be afraid to start conversations, ask questions, and introduce yourself – you never know where a single interaction might lead.
If you know any other languages, use them to your advantage! Improving industry-specific vocabulary in different languages can set you apart, especially in an international field like printing.
