What does empowerment mean to you as a woman in printing?
Empowerment is using your confidence and knowledge to take control and make informed decisions. This comes from hands-on experience and tapping into resources, whether it is networking (like Girls Who Print) or educational platforms. Working at a creative agency and managing production coordination allows me to collaborate with seasoned print vendors, gain valuable insights, and build greater self-confidence with every opportunity. These collaborations are built on mutual respect and open communication, leading to successful print runs and packaging that thrives on shelf.
Can you share a moment in your career when you felt truly empowered?
I’m fortunate to have clients who rely on my production and printing expertise by trusting me to make critical decisions on their brand’s behalf. Whether leading pre-production discussions on colors and varnishes or making on-press adjustments, they value my input and respect my judgment. Having the support from others, combined with the responsibility to deliver, brings a strong sense of confidence and pride, but success is never achieved alone.
What resources or programs have helped you grow in your career that you would recommend to young women?
Hands-on learning has been my most valuable resource. Attending press checks and asking questions have deepened my understanding of various printing techniques. Being part of a community of like-minded women and having mentors to offer guidance, troubleshoot challenges, and drive improvements in the industry has been invaluable. The internet is also a great resource with many printers actively sharing insights through blogs on their websites or LinkedIn, offering a deeper look into the vast world of printing, substrates, and sustainability efforts.
