Please share advice for young women considering or starting a career in print… Which includes design, sales, marketing and all jobs within.
If you’re looking for an industry that values creativity and is constantly changing, print is for you! A common misconception about the print industry is that it’s a dying industry, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. There is so much room for growth and innovation, you just have to be diligent about carving your own path. If you find a niche that you like, stick with it. Whether it be design, marketing, sales, or any other role – we are hungry for newcomers with a fresh perspective and a passion for the tangible products we interact with on a daily basis.
How have mentors helped your personal and career development?
My mentors haven’t always been from the print industry. From my first marketing internship to my current role, I have looked for the person in the room that could teach me something. What may not seem relevant to your current role can very much help you down the line. I have held a curiosity for what drives people’s passion and tried to cultivate that in myself. Find someone that resonates with you and ask them questions. If you’re anything like me, it will help you understand your own passions better and identify what drives you. Having someone who can get excited with you about your goals and ideas is invaluable as you carve your path.
