What do you do?

I am a seasoned graphic designer with a focus on print media, specializing in areas such as branding, catalog, and packaging design. My journey began at the Cleveland Institute of Art, where I delved into industrial design, graphic design, sculpture, and glasswork. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with esteemed brands like Vitamix®, Hasbro NERF®, and Mace® Brand, where I honed my skills and led creative teams. Now, as the CEO and founder of DesignPod Studio, I continue to leverage my expertise to help businesses of all sizes elevate their branding and marketing efforts. I also created a specialized division, DesignPod Tactical, which caters specifically to companies in the firearm and weapons industry. I aim to further expand my impact in the design realm while fostering positive change through helping businesses of all sizes. All tides rise all ships!

What investments have you made in your professional career development?

I’ve always believed in the importance of continuous learning and growth. Throughout my career, I’ve invested in various avenues to enhance my professional skills and knowledge. This includes attending industry conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay updated on the latest trends and techniques in graphic design. Additionally, founding DesignPod Studio allowed me to not only refine my design capabilities but also cultivate leadership and entrepreneurial skills vital for running a successful business.

What investments have you made in your personal development?

In addition to my professional endeavors, I’ve invested significant time and energy into my passion project and other company, Fuzzy Sharks. This initiative is not just about creating artwork; it’s about using art as a tool to educate and raise awareness for shark conservation. People learn in different ways, and often, art can be a vehicle to raise awareness, educate, and inspire change. Through Fuzzy Sharks, my work in physical print and product form is making a difference in changing the perception we as a culture have of sharks. This investment in my personal development goes beyond skill-building; it’s about making a meaningful impact on environmental conservation and inspiring others to join the cause.

How can the industry proactively invest in women, and why should this be a priority?

The industry can proactively invest in women by recognizing and leveraging the unique perspectives they bring to the table. Women possess an incredible ability to multitask, balancing family and work responsibilities while consistently striving for excellence. This adaptability and resilience translate into innovative problem-solving and collaborative leadership styles that enrich the creative process. By prioritizing investments in women, the industry not only fosters gender equality but also unlocks untapped potential for growth and innovation. Embracing diversity in all its forms, including gender diversity, is not just a moral imperative but a strategic advantage that drives progress and success in the print industry.
