What do you do?
I am a Sustainability Program manager at Case Paper, a distributor and converter of paper/paperboard products. I work with sales and the print community to make sure we understand all the changes in regulations, and what Enviromental, Social, Governance (ESG) means in today’s market. I work with our mill partners’ sustainability departments.
What investments have you made in your professional career development?
Reading lots of various trade publications that relate to sustainability, climate change, state regulations, and sustainability in packaging. I also attend conferences that relate to these topics. I have tried lots of new things and served on a few sustainability panels at events. Knowledge is power.
I am sharing a book that I have read, Chief Sustainability Officers At Work by Chrissa Pagitas. She has interviewed 24 top Fortune 500 companies on their sustainability strategies, and how they are integrating this into the core of their businesses. The advice from these leaders is priceless.
What investments have you made in your personal development?
Personally, I took a week off and went to Turks and Caicos on my vacation, no one else but me. Laid at the beach, putz in town, and answered to no one but myself!
I love to read and read 4 novels that week.
I took pickleball lessons and have been playing when I can.
Grandkids’ activities keep me busy.
How can the industry proactively invest in women, and why should this be a priority?
Equal pay, equal positioning on company executive boards, and management positions for women. Women as guest speakers at conferences, and industry trade shows. More publication articles promoting women’s achievements.
More women hired in sales, and account management.
Women can solve solutions from a different perspective. Women are known to be great multitaskers.
