Rebecca Thompson Director of Operations & Client Services, Kenway Printers
LinkedIn Profile: https://uk.linkedin.com/in/rthompsonk3nway
What do you do?
I joined Kenway Printers 5 years ago with most of my experience within the customer service industry. I am a single mother to two children, successfully managing to balance being a mother and a career woman, which is something I am so proud of! My role has expanded since joining Kenway. I began assisting with administration and I now run multiple LinkedIn accounts, all of our media including websites, and client accounts whilst developing our sustainability stance and bringing that to our clients. I also recently started learning the artwork and design aspect so I can now provide that service within our company rather than outsourcing.
What investments have you made in your professional career development?
I consistently strive to stay at the top of my game by pushing my boundaries. I have had to learn the basics of print production from lithographic to print finishing. I started without even knowing paper sizes. I do this by attending webinars, doing personal research at home, and always asking questions. Using the experience of others around me to share their knowledge.
What investments have you made in your personal development?
The biggest investment I can give myself is time. I dedicate certain amounts of time a day to hone my knowledge of areas I feel are weaker. Whether that’s watching YouTube videos, attending webinars, or personally calling experts in their fields to share their knowledge.
How can the industry proactively invest in women, and why should this be a priority?
I think the best thing we can do for women in business is provide flexible working patterns. Whilst not all women choose to be mothers a lot have to choose between work and motherhood. This means a large portion of talent is being missed out on and not utilized.
