LinkedIn Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/valerieapinnock/
What do you do?
Professionally, I proudly work as a regional support representative for North and South Carolina Minuteman Press locations. My role offers guidance in sales and marketing; assisting print shop owners in reaching their goals and building their business. I also aid in local vendor relations as well as software and equipment support and training for staff. This position is incredibly fulfilling and brings immense joy to my life.
What investments have you made in your professional career development?
My initial financial investment was for a degree in Graphic Design which I received from King’s College in Charlotte, NC. I’ve invested time and energy in learning a variety of printing processes and equipment including digital print production, bindery, wide format, sign installations, mailing processes, dye sublimation, heat transfer, and direct-to-garment printing. I welcome new technology, ideas, and opportunities to learn and grow.
What investments have you made in your personal development?
With a passion for all things creative and nature, I’ve invested in photography equipment and courses, additional fine art/design courses and software, and also wildlife rehabilitation education. I have obtained certifications for venomous reptile relocation and maintain an endangered species permit to preserve species of protected rattlesnakes.
How can the industry proactively invest in women, and why should this be a priority?
Providing women with an equal opportunity in the industry is essential for the expansion of print capabilities. Women contribute a unique perspective and creativity that has been absent in the industry until recently. It is imperative to invite diversity to our tables and embrace fresh ideas in our development processes.
