Please share advice for young women considering or starting a career in print… Which includes design, sales, marketing and all jobs within.

Be sincere and authentic. The marketing landscape is very competitive. Utilize your unique personality and traits to create your own personal brand to differentiate yourself, become a top contender in the ring and showcase how you bring value.

Use a voice that is respectful of others, commands respect and have the confidence to ask for what you want. Don’t doubt yourself. Tell the inner heckler, “Thank you for sharing. Have a nice day” and get back to your truth.

Try to keep emotions out of your business endeavors. It’s not personal. Unless it is- then find and use that voice and take the next right action for yourself and others.

Sustain integrity, be accountable, and do your best. This will earn you trust, dependability, and merit.

Have a sense of humor and don’t take yourself and others too seriously.

How have mentors helped your personal and career development?

Network and build your professional community with like-minded women. This will garner mentorship, shared knowledge, valuable input, and friendship. Other women gave me opportunities throughout my career. There are several esteemed colleagues and mentors who taught me so much and I am forever grateful.

Find someone you trust, admire and respect with whom you feel comfortable discussing your career.

Be of service to your peers, employer, and customers, and don’t forget to turn around and help the next one for at one time she was you!
