Hannah Young Graphic Designer & Pre-press Technician, Rollmark (Dieletlit) Ltd

LinkedIn Profile: https://uk.linkedin.com/company/rollmark-dieletlit-limited

What do you do?

Having joined Rollmark in 2017 working in the print finishing department, I then progressed to working in the sales office and now head up the graphics department, handling all artwork and all pre-press work for the company. I am also the sustainability officer, making sure we are setting carbon-zero targets and tracking our emissions.

What investments have you made in your professional career development?

Pre-press training here in the UK is very hard to come by so I have taught myself on the job since I started in the print industry in 2003 as a graphics originator. I have undertaken a short course with the University of the Arts London to update my InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator skills and I am lucky to work with a very supportive company who have allowed me to develop.

What investments have you made in your personal development?

In terms of my personal development, I have invested everything! My confidence and knowledge of the print industry has grown immensely. I have made lifelong friends and I have also honed my organisational skills, time management skills and people skills which I can apply to every aspect of life.

How can the industry proactively invest in women, and why should this be a priority?

There needs to be more training available and more networking specifically for women in the business. We also need to encourage the next generation of women into the industry. It is a very male-dominated industry here and quite often I get mistaken for the receptionist instead of being head of graphics. I am proud to work for a female boss! Both the MD and the finance director are females and head up the company.
