I believe in service and spend my time sitting on the board, and helping plan events for the Small Business Advocacy Council, an advocacy group based in Chicago that serves the small business community locally, statewide, and nationally.  I was also delighted that my partner and I were asked to sit on Sign Builder Illustrated’s Advisory Board for 2024.

In 2022 I was Speedpro Franchise Advisory board President, where I consulted on behalf of owners as a liaison to the home office, helping make decisions on behalf of owners.

What investments have you made in your professional career development?

In the beginning of my career, I spent time with all facets of this business to learn, grow, and absorb.  I spent time with top producing studios, with distributors, with other printers, with installers, and with manufacturers.  I created a “Boot Camp” of sorts, where I deep dove into this business to better understand it.  I learned a great deal in the field so that I can better lead as an owner.

In the past few years, we submitted for and received both Goldman Saks 10K Small Business, and Founders First Chicago Job Creators Business Accelerator Programs. These intensive courses helped us focus on all facets of running a small business.  We built networks, learned, honed our business plans, and grew as business owners.

What investments have you made in your personal development?

I believe in both having mentors, as well as personal growth. I’ve had a business and personal coach for over 9 years, and work on my leadership skills through attending social and emotional intelligence training.

There is a way of being open to feedback, to seeing how I reflect myself in the real world, that helps me be more authentic.

I’m starting to understand that the world is about relationships.  The relationships I make along the way are just as important as the clients we partner with or the projects I work on.

How can the industry proactively invest in women, and why should this be a priority?

I am passionate about being a woman in print.  I am passionate that we possess strengths that are vital to the print industry’s success.  Traditionally “feminine” traits such as empathy, intuition, nurturing, collaboration, being vulnerable and compassionate, and many more, make women leaders great.

There are more women than ever in leadership and senior management roles.    There is so much data supporting that revenues, success, and profitability are all higher with women in leadership.  Women in leadership mentor and create jobs for more women.  We support, encourage, and build each other up, thus unlocking all our collective feminine potential.
