What do you do?

My name is Sha’ron Pryor and I run an eco-conscious, purpose-driven print shop committed to providing high-quality services while minimizing our carbon footprint in a historically environmentally disadvantaged community. In addition to using eco-friendly materials and reducing waste to help protect the environment, moving forward I hope to contribute to the local community by creating job interest and opportunities for the youth, especially young women.

What investments have you made in your professional career development?

Besides a lot of continuous reading and research on both the print industry and the business of environmental sustainability, I have joined a few local organizations that focus on Green sustainability such as the U.S Green Building Council Los Angeles (USGBC) and Los Angeles Clean Tech Incubator (LACI) where I participated in a business accelerator program. I recently completed steps to obtain a Green Business Certification in my city. I try to attend as many trade shows and seminars as possible as these have been instrumental in my career development as well.

What investments have you made in your personal development?

I believe one of the biggest personal investments I’ve made thus far is just getting out of my way and putting myself out there. Being introverted has its challenges but knowing that I have to push through and be seen for my business to grow has made me a stronger individual and boosted my confidence level tremendously I never would have gotten there if I didn’t get out of my head.

How can the industry proactively invest in women, and why should this be a priority?

I see the industry already proactively taking steps to make investments in women by giving them a platform to speak at events, such as trade shows. Not only does this provide a large amount of visibility but the opportunity to be seen in real life. I think this and more inclusive training classes that include women either as instructors or mentors would be nice.
