What do you do?

I am engaged in the global trade of pre-owned printing machinery, with a primary focus on markets in Spain and Latin America. Working for Roberts Graphics Ltd, a leading supplier of second-hand printing equipment, I handle a wide array of machinery. This covers the full spectrum of equipment: the full range of used sheetfed machinery, large and small format and single- to multi-colour machines as well as heatset and coldset web offset presses and ancillary. We can source and supply all the necessary equipment required for bookbinding and finishing, saddle, perfect and hard case binding as well as die cutters, folder gluers, window patching, laminators, and used label press machinery.

What investments have you made in your professional career development?

Throughout my professional journey, I have made investments in my career development, starting with my academic background in Translation and Interpreting, focusing on English, French, and Arabic. Upon completing my studies, I wanted to apply my knowledge and skills in a practical setting. In 2015, I started a new chapter with a used machinery dealer based in Wakefield, marking the beginning of my journey into the industry. This role has been important in expanding my understanding of machinery and the broader industry dynamics. I have learned a lot through my participation in several printing exhibitions like Drupa in Germany, Expografica in Mexico, Graphic of the Americas GOA in Miami, Printing United Chicago, Grafinca Peru, Print Santiago Chile, Andigrafica Colombia, Labelexpo Mexico, and Printing United Expo Las Vegas, but also through customer visits and machine inspections across the globe. These experiences have not only deepened my technical expertise but also enhanced my professional network and understanding of global market trends, positioning me as a knowledgeable professional in my field.

What investments have you made in your personal development?

Nowadays it is too easy to forget about ourselves, especially in our fast-paced industry. That’s why I embrace a work-life balance approach and find time to press pause, breathe, and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. It’s not just about adding to my knowledge; it’s about creating moments of calm and balance in a busy day. Whether it’s stepping outside for a breath of fresh air, enjoying a hobby, or just laughing with friends, these moments are my reminder that there’s a world beyond the workplace. I don’t forget the importance of slowing down. This blend of learning, staying active, and connecting with others, all while keeping an eye on the balance between work and play, is my recipe for fulfilling personal development.

How can the industry proactively invest in women, and why should this be a priority?

I think women are very strong individuals in this industry and have the same capacities to be in it as men. Unfortunately, it is not the same perception for everyone, and we are a minority very much outnumbered by men. So, investing in women within the printing industry would be a strategic move that can trigger innovation, improve team dynamics, and bring a lot of different perspectives. Women should be supported through education choices and skills development in printing technologies. Mentorship opportunities with industry leaders would be a great thing too as well as promoting women into leadership positions within the printing sector.

Investing in women in print would be a brilliant move for the printing industry to remain competitive, innovative, and responsive to market demands. It’s an investment in a better future for the sector.
